Blanket Distribution

Service to humanity.

There are 37 Villages in 14 Panchayats spread throughout the West Singbhum District. Most of the villages are in deep forest areas without basic facilities like, water, sanitation and education. Many children succumb to cold and infection during winter as they are unable to afford warm clothes. Thanks to our well-wishers we managed to procure 5000 fleece blankets, 1000 thermal wears and monkey caps and distributed them to all the children living in 37 villages during the month of January and February 2023.

We had to walk several miles carrying the blankets etc. by cycle. It took 2 full months for us to complete the distribution. The experience was very satisfying. We used the opportunity to educate the villagers about the need for family planning, health, hygiene and education. This has resulted in positive response from the parents who are requesting us to admit their children in our school. We are trying to overcome the challenges posed by the sudden surge in demand for school admission. Our resources are limited. We are committed to empowering these community of people and break the cycle of poverty through education.

Women Empowerment

The Women Empowerment programme started in June 2023 in the forest in West Singhbhum district , Jharkhand by Basmati and her team have started yielding good results . The poor women have been encouraged to take up their traditional activities and supported to market them . The movement is gathering momentum. Similarly , our school at Lamjahari has a student strength of 330 from Pre nursery to 7th standard. 63 children who are either orphans or whose parents are unable to provide sufficient care are staying in the school itself with comprehensive care. Sixteen qualified and dedicated teachers are taking care of all these activities. The school infrastructure is very poor. We need to create a reasonably good infrastructure.
Our Nutrition project under which all the children are given free breakfast and a midday meal from Mondays to Saturdays along with free education has been a great success . Thanks to the dedicated team of teachers and visionary leader Basmati. All our teachers are also shaping as good leaders. Our children are studying well and excelling in extra curricular activities . Recently our children won four gold medals and a silver medal in district level tournament . All these achievements would not have been possible without your gracious support .
We value your support and assure you that each and every rupee that you donate will be spent frugally to benefit this community of people who need to be lifted above the poverty line.
Please continue to extend your support.
Thanks & Regards, Venkatanathan , Hariharan & Chokkalingam.

Basmati Gagrai

Managing Trustee & Founder Chairperson

It is my proud privilege to connect with you. I am from a remote village Lamjhari located in a forest in West Singhbhum District, Jharkhand State, India. The village has a population of 1933 people belonging to a minority Tribal Community by name HO. The village is 100 kms away from Jamshedpur. The people of the village are very poor and work as agricultural labourers and that too for about six months a year. The majority of the men folks are migrant workers working in far off place struggling to support their families.

Children in our village do not have access to good education as the only Govt Primary School in our area does not have adequate facilities including teaching staff. It is in this background we registered RDCEWE as a Public Charitable Trust and started a school to provide free Primary Education from Nursery to Seventh Standard and take up activities to empower women in our area. The Trust has been running the school since April,2022 in a makeshift class room, thanks to the support of the local community. With the help of a group of friends we managed to raise some funds through crowd funding to carry out the repairs to the roof of the building that was damaged due to heavy rains and winds during the month of June,2022. We also managed to construct 4 latrines.

Majority of the population can’t even afford a decent meal everyday and not to talk of Nutritious meal. Often the only meal they can afford is cooked rice soaked in water with salt. We realised unless the children are healthy they can’t concentrate on studies. Therefore, we launched a PROJECT NUTRITION on the 17th of September, 2022 under which the children are given nutritious breakfast and a mid-day meal from Monday to Saturday. This project alone costs Rs.80000.00 (Rupees Eighty thousand) per month. We have 11 volunteers working as teachers. We are driven by the passion to raise the standard of living of our community. A lot needs to be done to improve the school infrastructure and sustain the Project Nutrition. We also need to focus on steps to be taken to empower the women in our community.

We are confident that this humble project of ours will flow like a mighty river and embrace the entire community in our region and break the cycle of poverty.

As we put our first baby step on the long journey to a thousand miles, we earnestly appeal to you to support our initiative in making a difference in the lives of the most deserving population of our region.
